Eminent TV Journalist and Multiple award winning media person Mr. Maharaj K. Shah visited the Mass Comm Department of JIMS Lajpat Nagar on 20 January, 2015. He interacted with the students of Fourth and Sixth semester and spoke about the production values in TV industry. Students learnt a lot from his vast repertoire of experience and got to know about various career options in TV industry.
Students from BMC department attended a guest lecture by renowned sound recordists Mr. Ankur Chaudhary. Mr. Chaudhary introduced the students to the world of sound and conducted a few activities to help students perceive sound not as secondary to image but as complimenting the video.
He started the lecture with the basics of sound and ended it with application and practical use of sound in films and TV. The students benefited from the vast knowledge and expertise of the guest and learnt a lot about the subject.
JIMS Lajpat Nagar organised the Annual Sports Day on 15 November 2014. The semifinals were held on 12 November between various campuses and the qualifying teams met on 15th for the finals. Students took part in Volleyball, Basketball, Football, Badminton and Table Tennis. Even the staff donned their caps and competed in categories like Badminton and Table Tennis.
The day ended with the chairman sir distributing the prizes amongst the winners and runner ups from all campuses.
Benazir Bhutto ( born June 21 1953 – died december 27 2007 ) was a the first women leader of a Muslim nation in the modern history.Benazir with charismatic personality was the scion of the powerful Bhutto and was the daughter of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, a former prime minister of Pakistan and magnetic founder of Pakistan ‘s People’s Party.She was a child of previlege and took the mantle of power from her father.After her father’s execution in 1979,during the rule of the military dictator Mohommad-Zia-Ul-Haq,Bhutto became the titular head of her father’s party and endured frequent house arrest from 1979 to 1984 .In exile from 1984 to 1986.She returned to Pakistan after lifting the martial law and soon became the formost figure in the political opposition of Zia.
She became the president of Pakistan in two consecutive terms in form of coliation government.She wanted to repeal Hudood Ordinance and Zina as well as the Pakistan’s semi presidential system into parliamentary system.She wanted to bring modernization in the Islamic State of Pakistan which some conservatives regarded as westernization.She gained the title iron lady from India.Bhutto wanted to create healthy and warmer relations with India and did many efforts to do so.
After becoming PM, she took many measures for pakistan’s economy, national security and implemented socio-capitalist policies for industrial growth. Bhutto was assassinated in december in an attack while campaigning for upcoming elections.
Aruna Asaf Ali was born as Aruna Ganguly on 16 July 1909 at Kalka, Punjab, British India, but now in the state of Haryana into a Bengali family. She is widely remembered for hoisting the Indian National Congress flag in Bombay during the Quit India Movement, 1942. She was educated at Sacred Heart Convent in Lahore and then in Nainital. She graduated and worked as a teacher. She
taught at the Gokhale Memorial School in Calcutta. She met Asaf Ali, a leader in the Congress party at Allabhad and married him in 1928, despite parental opposition on grounds of religion (she was a Brahmo while he was a Muslim) and age (a difference of more than 20 years).
She became an active member of Congress Party after marrying Asaf Ali and participated in public processions during the Salt Satyagraha.
Aruna Asaf Ali was awarded International Lenin Peace Prize for the year 1964 and the Jawaharlal Nehru award for International understanding in 1991. She was awarded India’s second highest civilian honour, the Padma Vibhushan in her lifetime in 1992, and finally the highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna in 1997. In 1998, a stamp commemorating her was issued. Aruna Asaf Ali Marg in
New Delhi was named in her honour.
She was 87 years old at the time of her death.

Students from BMC Department, JIMS Lajpat Nagar participated in the 9TH National Seminar on ‘Trends in Integrated Communication on November 17, 2014 at India International Centre, Max Mueller Marg, New Delhi.
The recent trends in communication are shifting the focus on to convergence and integration. Some may argue that new media has heralded a generational shift in the way print, television; advertising, public relations and marketing operate in communication industry. The practitioners from the industry feel that there is need to maintain balance for purposeful evidence based results and also
the industry needs to keep pace with the fast changing environment.
The very definition of “news” is changing. Social media is adding new perspective to the traditional media model of media organizations as gate keepers of information. With the changing scenario journalists are becoming multimedia journalists. The biggest trend changer with greatest immediate effect has been with the entry of smart phones. By offering convenience through immediacy mobile phones are slowly becoming the most important source of information.
No doubt the future lies in complete integration of communication disciplines. It is also time for players in media /communication industry to sit back and reassess the strategic path for their brands and organizations.
